Have you been looking for the best pasta near Osan Air Force Base? Then, here are the five spots that international residents often vote for in the Pyeongtaek Food & Fun poll from this area each year. Where is Osan Air Base? Feel free to skip this section if you live in the Osan Air Base area or know about the area. Osan Air Base is a US Air Force Base located in Singjang-dong, Pyeongtaek-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. The area may also be called Songtan by both international residents and many Koreans who work with international residents. However, when people reference Songtan they may also be referencing Seojeong-dong, Jisan-dong, or parts of Godeok as well. Clarifying locations with exact addresses becomes important when sharing information for locations in this area. What to Expect From Pasta Restaurants in Korea Many countries put their own spin on international cuisines, so remember that your expectations of a dish could vary due to a Korean spin or fusion of flavors. Therefore, it is always best to try and keep an open mind when trying new places. Garlic bread in Korea tends to be more sweet and may even have sugar on it. It took a bit to wrap my brain around the concept. However, when we first tried this we discovered that the idea of it was more off-putting than the taste. It is rather good, but definitely different from what we have experienced in the US. In addition, some red sauces might have gochugaru (spicy red pepper powder) added which provides an extra kick. So, if your pasta sauce or even pizza sauce has an extra kick, it might just be the Korean red pepper. Best Pasta Near Osan Air Base Keep in mind that these spots are the ones most commonly recommended by international residents who participate in the Pyeongtaek Food & Fun group. Therefore, this is not a scientifically sound survey based on empirical evidence. Above all, try each of these pasta spots near Osan Air Base and let us know your favorites. KimchiRednecks Reviews a Local Pasta Restaurant We often head out and video our food adventures at new places. Therefore , you can check out our reviews on our YouTube channel. We post content often and there are always reviews of restaurants and delivery reviews to check out. Final Notes from KimchiRednecks In conclusion, there is not a shortage of pasta options in the area for you to try. If you want to carb up on spaghetti, lasagna or other pasta, you just have to decide where to try. Many of the pasta locations also have pizza available, so if you or your significant other would prefer to have pizza while the other enjoys pasta, you are set. However, each of the locations above have their own take on Italian pasta and we enjoy getting to try the different options at each of them. Location Clarification for this List While some of the pasta recommendations provided exist within walking distance of Osan Air Base Main Gate, other locations may require a car. In this blog post, South of Seoul provides its address and phone numbers. However, use this information in either Naver Maps or Kakao Maps for the best results. Such apps help you figure out how far each restaurant might be from you. Did you just move to Osan Air Force Base (OSAFB)? Would you like to learn more about life in Sinjang-dong (Songtan)? This is THE guide to life outside the OSAFB Main Gate. About Sinjang-dong Sinjang-dong is the name of the neighborhood outside of Osan Air Force Base. The neighborhood is known for its international restaurants and nightlife but it also has a vibrant and thriving community with the services needed to build a happy life. You can read more about this neighborhood in our Neighborhood Intros blog. In the following image, you can see the boundaries of Sinjangdong. As you can see, this neighborhood is somewhat extensive. The majority of the locations listed below are within an easy 5-10 minute walk of each other near the Osan Air Force Base walk-in-gate. However, Sinjang-dong does extend quite far and some places might be a 20-30 minute walk or 5-minute drive. We have not included every available service in Sinjang-dong. Instead, we have focused on the services most often requested by the local international population. For more information, you can download the South of Seoul app and also join Pyeongtaek Food & Fun. Subway Station Parking (and Station location) Police Station Post Office Bank As of 2021, there is one bank brank in Sinjang-dong. It’s a Farmers Bank. They do have Global ATMs but they are not the easiest bank for foreigners to bank due to systems that don’t handle foreign information well and limited support services for foreign language speakers. We recommend that foreigners open bank accounts with Hana Bank (They offer Sunday hours near Pyeongtaek Station) or KB Bank. These two options offer solid English language support, English language apps, and banking services for international residents with Korean IDs. Affordable Household and Lifestyle Items Nightlife and Shopping Popular Neighborhood Restaurants Cafes and Bakeries Pet Clinic and Pet Supplies Vintage Clothing Hardware Store Electric Transportation Wellness Clinic Baptist Church with English Services Pyeongtaek International Exchange Foundations (PIEF) South of SeoulFounded in 2015, the South of Seoul team consists of volunteers on three continents working together to support English-speaking people traveling or living in South Korea. South of Seoul volunteers work with organizations and individuals across South Korea to improve equitable access to information across South Korea. Much of South of Seoul’s information focuses on Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. Blogs published under the authorship of “South of Seoul” include blogs compiled by multiple volunteers to improve access to standardized information unrelated to individualized personal experiences. www.southofseoul.net
