About the einspanner Much like a cappuccino, another favorite of mine, the Einspänner uses whipped cream instead of frothed milk. This classic drink is popular in Austria’s Viennese Cafes. I’d love for a historian and/or Austrian to add more details about when this drink was created. However, for a great list of Viennese Cafe terms, check this site. The einspänner (“one-horse-drawn carriage”) was the preferred coffee drink for coachmen as it allowed them to drive the carriage with one hand and hold their coffee with the other.  The firm, lightly whipped cream top served both as an insulator and prevented spills. An Einspanners should be served hot and not meant to be mixed, as the baristas at Oasis Cafe will remind you. Einspanner in South Korea I’m not sure how this popular Viennese drink made its way to Korea but it has become my litmus test to select cafes I prefer to frequent. Though few cafes in Korea offer the Einspänner (or “Viennese” or “Vienna”, as it may be called in Korea) hot. It is often exclusively iced. 7 of the Best Einspanners I have had in South Korea My travels across South Korea have made me a minor expert in the Einspanners and these are my top 7 spots for my favorite drink. Cafe Vienna (Sosabeol, Pyeongtaek) Notes: – As the Cafe name should suggest, Cafe Vienna has a diverse menu of drinks and the greatest selection for Einspänner fans.  Oasis Cafe Notes: Located in Asan Techno Valley, and much like Cafe Vienna, this is one of the few cafes that offer the Einspänner both hot or iced. Both are great.  Dew Drop Cafe (Anjeong, Pyeongtaek)Notes: Dewdrop Cafe gets an honorable mention. The Dew Drop Spanner is offered iced only and it’s like whipped cream heaven.
