Did you just move to Osan Air Force Base (OSAFB)? Would you like to learn more about life in Sinjang-dong (Songtan)? This is THE guide to life outside the OSAFB Main Gate. About Sinjang-dong Sinjang-dong is the name of the neighborhood outside of Osan Air Force Base. The neighborhood is known for its international restaurants and nightlife but it also has a vibrant and thriving community with the services needed to build a happy life. You can read more about this neighborhood in our Neighborhood Intros blog. In the following image, you can see the boundaries of Sinjangdong. As you can see, this neighborhood is somewhat extensive. The majority of the locations listed below are within an easy 5-10 minute walk of each other near the Osan Air Force Base walk-in-gate. However, Sinjang-dong does extend quite far and some places might be a 20-30 minute walk or 5-minute drive. We have not included every available service in Sinjang-dong. Subway Station Parking (and Station location) Police Station Post Office Bank As of 2021, there is one bank brank in Sinjang-dong. It’s a Farmers Bank. They do have Global ATMs but they are not the easiest bank for foreigners to bank due to systems that don’t handle foreign information well and limited support services for foreign language speakers. We recommend that foreigners open bank accounts with Hana Bank (They offer Sunday hours near Pyeongtaek Station) or KB Bank. These two options offer solid English language support, English language apps, and banking services for international residents with Korean IDs.
